White teeth give an individual a sense of pride and motivation. For many people, it gives an extraordinary boost of confidence. Having teeth that are yellow or heavily stained can be an interrupt that person’s sense of self-assurance. If an individual is known to be assertive and outgoing, discolored teeth can have a negative effect, thus allowing the person to become undoubtful and even defensive.

When going to the dentist to get a cleaning, it is good to make sure that all questions have been asked. If you find that your gums are irritated on the day of cleaning it may be recommended that you make another appointment

Dental Whitening Procedure

Typically, the first thing that will happen you arrive at the dentist office is to have your gums covered. Dentists take special care to completely cover the gums. Without this covering, the cleaning solution may touch the gums. If this happens the gums can become inflamed, sore and reddened.
Normally, the teeth are sufficiently covered, which will keep this from happening.

Pain and Sensitivity During Procedure

During a whitening procedure that uses hydrogen peroxide, the patient may feel an aching sensation during the session. If this happens alert the dentist. Some people find that their teeth are sensitive to peroxide. After the session, the patient may notice that their teeth sensitivity has been heightened. Normally, this is not anything to worry about, the sensitivity will eventually wear off.

Light acceleration Whitening Method

Using light acceleration during a whitening procedure can cause the temperature of the pulp in your teeth to rise, which may result in pain. This occurs due to the light bring absorbed into the tooth, instead of reflecting off of it. Light acceleration can also cause your teeth to dehydrate, which can cause discomfort.

Patients have the option of using a laser procedure or not. Dentists will explain to them the risks and all of the other options that they have. Choosing the method that will dehydrate your teeth the least, seems to be the most appropriate option.

When the laser whitening procedure is chosen it should be noted that this method can have a rebound effect. What that means is the teeth of the patient may become darker after around 7 days. The reason because of this is due to the laser dehydrating the teeth, which could hinder the whitening process to actually take.

Sitting down with a dentist and going over all the options may be needed to make an informed decision. After examining your mouth the dentist will be able to let you know what may be the healthier choice. Everyone wants their teeth to be their whitest, with proper consultation and professional dental work this can be accomplished.
